My passion for baking and cake decorating began back in December 1996 while preparing for my 8th birthday celebration.

Instead of the usual celebration which would include one or two professionally made cakes, I found myself on the eve of my birthday; along with my mother, baking a single packet of Lemon flavoured Betty Crocker cake mix. With no cake decoration in sight, my family and I gathered around our dining table to celebrate my birthday and enjoy what my mother and I had created.

I fostered this new liking by watching and reading any cooking/ baking programs/ books that I could get my hands on. I would often get involved in baking and cooking competitions held by my church/local community.

On weekdays, just before the local prime-time news at 7 pm was aired, I would religiously tune in to watch the TV show “Creative Cooking” hosted by Mazie Miller.

As I grew older and my parents saw it fit, they allowed me to experiment with various dishes to which I gave unique names and of course; like a professional, had my siblings act as professional tasters!

My enthusiasm led me to complete studies in Food and Nutrition at both high school and advanced levels. I then obtained a BSc. In Dietetics and Nutrition from The University of Technology back in 2011 during which I spent a few semesters completing professional cook and baking courses.
